hidden gems to stream...
Hello, #SBFAMILY! Life during #COVID19 has been mundane and quiet to say the list. Many of us are passing the time with a good book or snuggle up on the couch with a movie. So I decided to share my favorite Netflix shows with my SBFAMILY to make this whole thing make you feel less punitive and more like you're on holiday. Here are five shows on Netflix that will help #SBFamily pass the time whilst socially distancing or self-isolating at home.
1. Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness - FOR ALL OF US
I chose this to top the list because this has to be the most addicting series I’ve ever watched. Imagine a series crazier than everything going on in the world right now. The seven-episode series is full of twists and turns. The whole thing is unbelievable and that’s why I won’t say much more. Let’s just say, Joe Exotica is the man we’ll all remember help us got through #COVID19. What a ride!
2. Breaking Bad - FOR THE FEARLESS
heard about ‘Breaking bad’ for the first time during the show’s series finale. That week, I binged it in 5 days! I didn't want to, but each episode, each dialogue, each character in the show gave me a million reasons to watch it. I have since watched it a few times now, and aside from the plot being fantastic, I am always AMAZED at Bryan Cranston's acting. It's incredible. You’ll certainly be at the edge of your seat the whole time. So many great characters, good and bad. Season 5 was spectacular.
"This series shows the importance of staying vigilant and exposes the dark aspects of technology so we don't misuse them."
3. Black Mirror - FOR THE CONSPIRACY THEORISTS
Black mirror is one of my favorite series of all time. Technology is one of the best things that has ever happened to humanity. However, this series highlights the negatives that come with technology. This series shows the importance of staying vigilant and exposes the dark aspects of technology so we don't misuse them. If you can stomach the subtle underlying feeling of dread and anxiety going on, then I say binge all four seasons at once during this quarantine.
4. Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker - FOR THE BOSS LADIES
The four episodes series that are each roughly 45 minutes to an hour-long gives us an insight of who Madam Walker was, how she built her hair growth empire and eventually became the first woman millionaire in the United States. Not only is she someone everyone should know much more about, but the series is also a crash course in starting a business from scratch. Madam Walker was a businesswoman and a philanthropist who used her immense wealth to uplift her race and women of all color. I just have one question. What took so long to make this series?
5. The Office- FOR ONES WITH A SENSE OF HUMOR
The Office (AMERICAN VERSION) remains Netflix's most-watched licensed content during the Coronavirus Pandemic. However, are we surprised? THIS IS THE GREATEST SHOW OF ALL TIME (DON’T @ME)! It’s a casual show to watch. You can pay attention or have it in the background. It’s very relatable in many aspects whether its work situation, romantic life, friendships, etc. Michael Scott is someone that we can all relate to and laugh at and even cringe at, making him one of the greatest tv characters of all time. It makes you laugh, and laughter is what is needed right now.
Self-isolation is going to be a long-drawn affair for most of us, I hope this list helps you kill time. Stay safe and sane (and fabulous, of course).
