Happy Ocean’s Day everyone! You ALL know, I am absolutely obsessed with my adidas family. I could name a million and one things I love about them but the most important is, they do EVERYTHING with a purpose. They seem to take on a new cause every time and perpetually use their business for GOOD. I am so incredibly proud to be a part of the adidas family.

Recently, adidas has embarked on improving sustainability efforts with its new Parley line. Did you know that it is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean? adidas has collaborated with the pioneering non-profit Parley for the Oceans to tackle the problem of marine plastic waste. adidas is working with Parley to keep plastic from entering our oceans and transform it into high-performance sportswear. Did you also know that by the end of 2018, over 1 million pairs of adidas shoes were made using Parley Ocean Plastic? This is the true definition of spinning the problem into a solution. They call this; From threat into a thread! I am so incredibly honored to be part of this campaign to celebrate Run for the Oceans/ World Oceans Day. I took my team to Malibu and Santa Monica to help with our part and pick up any plastic we see on the shores. I was actually quite impressed as to how clean it was. However, the few plastic bags floating in the ocean were problematic. Plastic bags looked like jellies which in turn are a favorite food for many sea creatures. Making sure the plastics we saw doesn’t blow into the ocean was OUR main goal. As activist Paul Watson, the founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society says, “If the oceans die, we die.”

adidas Parley is the official collaboration product line between adidas and Parley for the Oceans, an environmental organization that addresses environmental threats towards the oceans, through ocean plastic pollution. adidas Parley uses plastics from the oceans and creates sustainable footwear and apparel from them. Genius, right? If everybody and every brand on the planet did one positive thing to the planet each day, it wouldn't be long before the whole Society would change. World Oceans Day, recognized worldwide is on June 8! It is a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future for our planet. How are you committing to help save the ocean?
