New York Fashion Week 2019: a Look at the Shows with Four Seasons DTNY!

“Every Year The  Women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future. This is known as FASHION WEEK." -Carrie Bradshaw

"Did you know for 4 years (8 seasons), I purchased tickets to NYFW without a single invite to a single show?"

NYFW is upon us yet again! So, of course, SpecsandBlazers headed back to New York and it's infectious energy for September’s Fashion Week. Excited to bring you all the best looks fresh off the runway! We are so incredibly lucky to continue our partnership with Four Seasons Downtown NY. It's my favorite place to stay in New York. This hotel is geared towards the high-end clientele because well, it’s a Four Seasons which means class and elegance. Therefore, fits into the SpecsandBlazers brand impeccably well. I love Four Seasons NY Downtown because it’s in the heart of downtown and pretty easy to get to all the shows semi-quickly {whether by subway, uber or taxi}.

Did you know for 4 years (8 seasons), I purchased tickets to NYFW without a single invite to a single show? Life is beautiful and I’m incredibly honored to take you guys on this journey with me. Although we attended many shows, I am only going to highlight my 4 favorites. Enjoy!

Helmut Lang

I’ve been in love with the brand for quite a while but truly fell head-over-heels with its relaunch in 2017. Helmut Lang is the epitome of minimalism and has always stayed true to the classic sharp-lined silhouettes and quiet color schemes. I was incredibly lucky to have access to the backstage of the show courtesy of Purple PR. Where I got to experience the hard-work of all the fabulous people who are integral to the success of a seemingly impeccable show. I was in awe of everyone involved form makeup artists to hair stylists and of course the incredible models who bring the outfits to life. The show itself was all about minimalism. It was immaculate tailoring at its finest with monochromatic white-on-white, beige-on-beige, and olive-on-olive.

"The collection was a perfect balance of feminine dresses and bold, graphic stripes and lines. It was an elegant yet refined collection."

Longchamp

If you are in the fashion world and never heard of the brand, I’m judging you. At least, you’ve heard of the cult following tote bag from them, the Longchamp Le Pliage. I was honored to be sent and dress by my family at BPCM PR! Kendall Jenner is the face of the brand, so you know it was a star-studded show. The front row were the who of who of the fashion world. From Kate Moss to Kendall Jenner and many more. Longchamp showed its Spring 2020 collection in New York at the most beautiful location in all of New York at the Hearst Plaza in Lincoln Center. Kaia Gerber opened the show and of course it was beautiful. The collection was a perfect balance of feminine dresses and bold, graphic stripes and lines. It was an elegant yet refined collection.

Veronica Beard

We had the incredible privilege to attend both backstage and the actual show with Essie. Essie was the official sponsor of the grooming of Veronica Beard for the show. What I enjoy about Veronica Beard shows in general is that they don’t do a typical runway show, rather a presentation. The location was a bit off-beat from all the other shows we attended for the week but speaks to the brand perfectly. I absolutely love that the clothing seems to be for a woman who wants to do it all. Almost every item is interchangeable. I wanted every single item in my closet because they just seem so easy to style for my day-to-day looks.

Tommy Hilfiger X Zendaya

I was honored to attend backstage with Essie of Tommy Hilfiger X Zendaya and get a first look before the models walked out to wow the audience. These two are the undefeated duo of fashion week and continuously impress me every year. Tommy Hilfiger and Zendaya staged an incredible runway show at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. The collection displays Tribute to '70s Fashion; Fierce Females, with Endless Fun. I wanted to pluck every item off of the runway and wear them right away. Each item is wearable and very versatile. I absolutely loved the powerful tailored suit. It reminded me so much of Bianca Jagger but also Zendaya herself. Houndstooth and velvet are all the wave this fall and Luxury Law styled those perfectly for the runway. Clearly 70’s silhouettes are back. This is why we never throw anything away because they always come back into style.

It's a wrap! Fashion week is always a week of no-sleep but pure magic. Hope you enjoyed the behind the scenes of each day and got all sartorial ideas for the next season here at SB. Incredibly grateful to Four Seasons NY Downtown for continuously partnering with SpecsandBlazers whenever we are in New York. See you Next Friday and as always, thank you so much for reading.
