Hello, Ladies and some gents! Happy Tuesday.
There is something about wearing all white that makes me feel like a million bucks. Wearing white from head to toe may not suit everyone, but I always feel effortless and fresh when I wear it. White on dark skin is just fabulous. I grew up with both my parents wearing white all the time. It’s no secret, I have a slight obsession with that color. Alas, even my home is all white. Plus, minimalism is a hot trend for summer and what’s more minimalistic than white? Personally, I think white evokes more of a visceral feeling; fresh, clean, pure, empty but mostly a feeling of luxury. With that said, here are 5 ways you can add white to your wardrobe.
Confidence is definitely key when it comes to wearing white, or all white. If you aren’t a confident person, you can’t wear white or you’ll be self-conscious the whole time. Put all those silly rules to bed on all white is tacky or even white heels are tacky. Don’t be afraid to experiment with white. I truly believe you can wear white to any occasion. Well, except maybe a wedding. Wear white with your head held high.
2. Match your whites
Believe it or not, there is more than one shade of white: Winter white, ivory, and many more tones, but they don’t always complement each other. Whenever you’re rocking a monochromatic ensemble, keep the tones in mind. You can mix shades but let your eye be the deciding factor. Before walking out, stare at your outfit in various lighting (bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, outdoors, whatever). Do the shades work together or do one white look so bright that it makes the other almost look dirty? Be mindful of how your whites work together. Use your judgment as to whether your shades work correctly. Trust me, you can mismatch white.
Balance your fresh look with an accent color that will give it a twist. And remember, you want to bring another shade into the picture only as an accent technique, so make sure it doesn’t steal the show. I went the no jewelry route and just finished off with my So Kate pumps.
4. Know What Proportions Work For You.
When it comes to wearing a color like white, knowing your proportions are a key factor to a perfect look. I prefer a clean tailored look. Some people, like Rihanna, can rock the whole loose fitting all white outfit but I’m more of a Solange girl. I prefer tailored all white look.
5. Go All Out.
If in doubt, just wear white from head to toe as no color is fresher so if you do struggle on how to style things white on white is such a high impact look. Wear it well, wear it proud.
Oh, Make sure you apply perfume before getting dressed. I’ve made this mistake one time too many.
